Cooked Mediterranean Tuna Steak

September 23, 2011 11:00 AM

Tuna steaks are a real treat, especially when spiced, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. They’re healthy too!

Ingredients:

Cooked Mediterranean Tuna Steak1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
8 gloves garlic, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1/8 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash of black pepper
¾ cup water
4 small slices tuna steak
1 cup cherry tomatoes, cut in half

Directions:

Place butter, red pepper strips and garlic in pot and sauté over low heat for 20 minutes.  Add salt paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, water, and tuna. Cover pot and cook tuna over high heat until water comes to a complete boil. Lower heat, and cook tuna for another 10 minutes. The heat should be high enough for the sauce to simmer the whole time. Keep spooning the sauce over the fish while it’s cooking. Add tomatoes and cook an additional 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
