How To Diet Without Feeling Hungry

For some reason or another, most people believe that dieting= starving. The fact is that what is most important is to be aware of what you eat, whether or not you’re trying to lose some weight, in order to keep your body strong and healthy. Secondly, who ever said that you have to experience hunger pangs while dieting? Here are some tips that will help you stay healthy and/or lose those few pounds and at the same time feel satisfied and full. Aim for foods that are high in water and fiber, as they fill you up and thus leave you satisfied.

  • It may take some time getting used to, but drinking plain water, rather than juice and/or soft drinks, any time you’re thirsty should be your goal. Water fills you up, as well as cleanses your system. Find it too hard? Start by substituting 1 cup of soft drink a day with water, moving up slowly.
  • Stock up on the fruits and vegetables. They contain a large amount of water and are great filler-uppers as well.
  • Snacks that are high in carbohydrates such as chips, pretzels, and crackers have a very limited amount of water in them. You have to eat quite a few of them to fill you up, all the while packing on the extra calories. Try avoiding them as much as possible.
  • Sick and tired of all the fruits and vegetables? Stock up on protein. Foods such as meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, and beans are great at keeping you full for longer periods of time and are full of nutrition. ...continue reading

Let's Move - Putting an End to Obesity

Myth: Many people feel that healthy living means depriving yourself of the good things in life, and being unrealistically thin.
Fact: Healthy living is all about staying healthy, being full of energy and feeling great about yourself.

Since the 1970’s, the number of overweight children has doubled, while the number of overweight teens has nearly tripled. Research has proven that those that are more than 20% overweight, are at much higher risk of developing diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease, blood pressure, stroke, depression, as well as some behavioral issues. In the United States of America, obesity is listed as the #2 cause of death, with smoking beinending-obesityg  #1.

That is why First Lady Michelle Obama, started the "Let’s Move" campaign to end childhood obesity. On June 4th, 2010, she addressed hundreds of chefs in a campaign to go out to the schools and put an end to the unhealthy eating that is rampant today. First Lady Michelle Obama feels that there is no one who can do a better job than a chef to help the next generation make healthy food choices.

In addition to the food we consume, there is the aspect of physical activity as well. Exercise plays an important role in our overall health. 60 minutes of daily physical activity will help children feel more energetic and maintain their proper weight levels. ...continue reading
