The most common of cookware, the fry pan features a flat bottom with curved side walls for easy stirring and sliding. It's ideal for frying, scrambling, searing and sauteing. It's sloped sides prevents steam from forming within the pan. Many establishments require several fry pans of varying sizes, as well as construction. Different metals conduct heat in various ways, as does non-stick applications.
