    This is a durable, well made honing steel. I have been using it to keep my edges straight for several weeks. This item is made of hardened steel, between 59 and 63 Rockwell. It is suitable for honing most common knives (such as German steel), but not anything exceeding its own hardness.

    This item is very similar to the Winco K-14S. The only differences I notice is that this one is oval, and has a flatter square grip. In terms of performance, they seem comparable.

    +metal loop at the end to hang it

    +long enough to hone blades up to 12"

    -grip could be a bit more comfortable

    Fit and Finnish: 5/5
    -small minor blemishes on the surface, don't impact effectiveness

    Value: 5/5
    +low cost at 9$.

    +there is a round version (instead of oval), a little cheaper. It is a matter of preference, but I find they perform about the same.
