    Every year, I stock my freezer with lamb liver from the family farm. While I don't find it particularly tasty on its own, it makes excellent pate. And that takes a lot of garlic crushing.
    This garlic press is a big upgrade to a tiny one I have been using for years. It has a large chamber, crushing garlic quickly and pushing very little of it back up between the chamber and piston.

    The self-cleaning feature however, is brittle and breaks. The mechanism is made of plastic, and two of the little prongs broke on the first use. More followed shortly after.
    That said, cleaning a garlic press without it is not difficult. I clean mine by scraping the bottom with a plastic pot scraper, then the bits inside dislodge under running water.

    - self-cleaning mechanism brittle. The small pegs are made of plastic, and break very easily. Two of mine broke on the first use, several others soon followed.

    Fit and Finish: 3/5
    - sharp metal sliver near the pivot bolt that went into my finger.
    + no dents or scratches out of box.

    Value: 5/5
    + only about $4, comparable items are about double the price.
