    This is a lightweight mortar and pestle set that is good for lightweight tasks like grinding herbs and crushing garlic. It's fairly shallow, so it does not work well for grinding tougher matter, like seeds or peppercorns, as they'll fly right out.

    +Pestle is just the right size for the mortar.
    +Works great for grinding softer herbs.
    -Bottom section is too flat, generally for a mortar it should be more concave to make mashing easier.
    -Not well suited for grinding toughter matter, like peppercorns

    +No chips or cracks.
    +Minimal work needed to break in.

    Value: 5/5
    + Comparable mortar and pestle sets available on amazon in the $15 range, slightly more expensive than this one.
