It's an ok knife, pretty bulky and not very sharp out of the box. Wouldn't use it for fine chopping.
If you are looking for a hefty German steel knife, then look no further. The heft shouldn't alarm you because the balance is perfect. Hands down this is my favorite knife I have ever owned in over 20 years in the trade.
Balance and blade design are wonderful. Perfect curvature for chopping! Razor sharp right out of the box, and holds its edge very well! You'll want to put this on display when you first lay eyes on it, beautiful!
Great Knife! I'm a professional chef and a knife geek, and I love this knife.
Over the past two months, I've been testing this knife out on all sorts of produce from the family farm. From slicing onions and leeks, to
chopping garlic, and getting that thick peel off the rutabaga. This knife performs great.
There are two main aspects of this knife that really make it stand out.
1. It is very comfortable and stable in the pinch grip position. The half-bolster is perfectly shaped for my finger to wrap around it, and the thickness of the handle help with control.
2. It is perfect for rocking cuts. The pronounced curve at the blade tip lets you bring the knife higher off the board, and the 2" height makes it easier to control.
The larger 2" height also means the angle from the edge, to the top of the blade is narrower - in other words the knife is like a much thinner wedge. This makes the knife feel sharper, even when the edge starts to dull. It should be honed regularly (while it still feels sharp), or the edge will roll over.

+Full tang. Because of the handle design, you can't see the tang as in a classic handle, but it is a full tang. I did a continuity test with a multi-meter to check.
+Well-balanced. Even though the knife is relatively heavy for it's size, it doesn't feel like it.
+-The grip is not as comfortable as the FDick Premier Plus line using your whole hand, but much better for a pinch grip position.

+Perfect angle on the edge profile. 15 degrees out of box.
+Excellent detailing. The top of the blade as well as the areas around the handle and bolter are polished. No touchup was necessary.
+Excellent handle transitions. With the stacked ribbon design there are lots of metal-plastic transitions and all are smooth.
+Elegant packaging. Transparent box with foam insert and product description card.
+FDick logo is engraved into the blade.
-Edge grind on one side of the blade is slightly wider than the other side. Not significant enough to cause concern.
